This Privacy Policy describes how Recite (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use the Recite mobile application (the “App”) and our website at tryrecite.app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and mobile platform privacy mandates.

I. Information We Collect
We collect two categories of information: Personal Information (which can identify you) and Non-Personal Information (which is anonymous).
1. Personal Information & Core Permissions
- Voice Recordings & Audio Data: The App requires access to your device’s microphone to capture your voice. This audio data is used to analyze your vocal performance and match your pitch in real-time.
- Account Information: If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address, username, and authentication credentials.
- Device and Technical Identifiers: We automatically collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, unique device identifiers (Device ID), operating system, and hardware model.
2. Non-Personal & Usage Information
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how users interact with the App. This includes screen views, features used, performance metrics, session durations, and error/crash reports.
3. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently gathered personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information from our servers as swiftly as possible.
II. How We Use and Share Information

2. Automated Decision-Making
While Recite utilizes advanced machine learning and signal processing to assess vocal accuracy and provide feedback, the App does not employ any automated decision-making processes that have legal or similarly significant effects on your rights and freedoms.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or voice recordings to third-party advertisers. We only share information with trusted third-party service providers who are contractually bound to keep your data confidential and secure. We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government regulation.
III. Third-Party Services & Data Infrastructure
We host and operate our backend services through Google Firebase, a mobile development platform provided by Google LLC. We do not distribute your personal data across multiple analytics or tracking networks. Firebase processes your data strictly on our behalf under a GDPR-compliant Data Processing Addendum (DPA).
The specific Firebase modules integrated into the App include:
- Firebase Authentication: Securely manages user sign-ins, encrypted password handling, and profile persistence.
- Firebase Realtime Database / Firestore: Securely stores your application configurations, profile preferences, and non-audio usage statistics.
- Firebase Analytics: Captures anonymous app performance metrics, screen views, and user engagement trends so we can improve the user interface.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Captures real-time, non-personally identifiable technical snapshots (such as device model, OS version, and system stack traces) only when the app encounters a bug or crash, allowing us to deploy immediate hotfixes.
Note on International Data Transfers: Firebase data may be processed on servers located in the United States. Google ensures that these transfers are protected by standard lawful frameworks, including EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
IV. Data Security and Retention
1. Security Measures
We implement robust, industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to safeguard your data. This includes end-to-end encryption in transit (via HTTPS/TLS), secure access controls, and server firewalls. Because no digital transmission or storage system is 100% secure, we cannot guarantee absolute security, and users assume this inherent risk.
2. Retention Policy
We retain your personal information, account profiles, and history only as long as necessary to fulfill the operational purposes outlined in this policy or to comply with legal obligations.
V. Your Rights Under the GDPR
If you are a resident of the European Union or European Economic Area, you hold the following statutory rights regarding your personal data:

Non-material modifications take effect immediately upon publication.
